Sar pass is one of the most popular trails in Shivalik range. Sar, in local dialect, means a lake. Sar Pass is a moderately challenging trek in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, situated at an altitude of 13800 ft. It can be considered as a great introduction to high altitude trekking. This trek is also very popular amongst Indian trekkers. Sar valley overlooks the beautiful Parvati valley abundant in natural treasure. The valley is surrounded by snow clad mountains, perennial streams, waterfalls, and lush green forests. It is the seventh heaven for any adventurous travellers and nature lovers.


Travel Suggestions:

Arrival

  • Ensure that you schedule your flights/trains in a way that you reach Majnu Ka Tila not later than 4:30 PM on Day 1.

 Departure

  • We shall arrive into Delhi by morning Day 09. It is suggested that modes of transport should be scheduled post 12 PM to avoid any mishap. Missing flights or trains could be disastrous, hence, please make your choices wisely.

Itinerary

Day 1: Mumbai to Delhi to Kasol

We start from Mumbai by flight to Delhi.

The trip will start from Delhi Majnu Ka Tilla a Volvo pickup stand by 4 o’clock late afternoon. From here we will board Volvo to Kasol and the journey will be around 15 hrs. Overnight Journey in Volvo Bus.

Day 2: Kasol

Arrive Kasol Base Camp in the morning and complete the registration. This day is for acclimatization; orientation session will be given along with the information like rucksack packing, marching/walking technique and general awareness about the trek route.

Day 3:  Drive to Kasol and Trek to Grahan Village (4-5 Hours)

Wake up to the beautiful Himalayan sunrise at  Base Camp. Have breakfast and drive to the centre of Kasol to start your exciting trek! Your trek starts from Kasol town centre by Grahan Nahal. The easy trail which is frequently used by locals will take you to through pine forests. In a couple of hours, you will be able to cover much of the distance as the trail is easy to climb. After reaching the Grahan Nahal, the trail becomes rocky and steep. The locals say that the Rhododendron petals can be eaten whole and the syrup can be mixed with water to make a refreshing drink. You can definitely try that when in the Himalayas!  The steep climb of an hour will take you to your destination for the day. Reach Grahan Village by evening and freshen up. Have your dinner and stay overnight in the camps.

Day 4: Grahan to Min Thach (7-8 km/4-5 Hrs)

Start your trek towards the north of the camping ground at Grahan. You will bump into many locals on the way using the Ming Thatch trail. After walking a little more, you will see the Ming Thatch, Nagaru and Sar top on the mountains. The steeper trails will take you to the woods. Remember to stay with your group here as the trail becomes steeper and a bit confusing. Cross the lush green forest and reach Ming Thatch. Admire the Chanderkhani stretch and many more ranges from the campsite at Ming Thatch. Have your dinner and stay overnight at the camps.

Day 5: Min Thach to Nagaru (8-9 km/5-6 Hrs)

Have your breakfast and trek through the pastoral forest covered with snow from Ming Thatch to Nagaru. You will have to be careful on this trail as the steep slope and the snow will make the trek difficult here. After a difficult trek for 2- 3 hours, you will finally reach the Nagaru campsite. Enjoy the mesmerising vistas of magnificent mountain across the Parvati valley. See the small glittering lights of the Manikaran town as the night sets in. It gets extremely chilly in the evening. It is advisable to sleep early to avoid catching cold next!

Day 6: Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass (12-13 km/8-9 Hrs)

Rise and shine early morning to start your trek. Climb up through the snow trails and admire the dazzling peaks of Tosh Valley. The exhilarating view on the top of Sar Pass will leave you spellbound! Spend some time there and take in the beauty of the place. Slide down to the valley but take the necessary precautions. The sliding downhill is almost 2 KM! Walk for an hour and cross some magical water streams to reach the Bishkari Thatch campsite by evening. Take rest and have dinner. Stay overnight at the Biskeri Thatch campsite.

Day 7: Biskeri Thach to Kasol base camp and Departure

See the splendid views of lofty mountains and pine forests from Biskeri Thatch. Start trekking downhill through the dense forest, crossing a stream and then reach Pulga. The twin village Pulga and Tulga are separated by a stream. Cross the bridge on the Parvati River to reach the Barshaini Village. From this point you have to travel in that will drive you to Kasol. Your amazing trek to the Sar pass concludes here.

Catch Bus to Delhi.

Day 8: One Day Kasol Stay and drive back to Delhi (optional)

Explore Kasol and Manikaran Gurudhwara or move for River Rafting. Catch return bus from Manali/Bhunter back to Delhi.

Day 9: Delhi to Mumbai

We will reach Delhi by morning. Then Catch Flight To Mumbai.
