Day 1: Guwahati – Shillong

Day 3: Living Root Bridges – Blue Lagoon – Rainbow Falls

  • Krem Chympe Bamboo Raft: ₹1200 per person (optional), payable directly at the site for those who wish to explore inside the cave.
  • Miscellaneous: Any services or items not mentioned in the inclusions are the responsibility of the traveller.
  • Additional Services: Porterage at hotels and airports, tips, travel insurance, laundry, and alcoholic beverages are not part of the package.
  • Natural Calamities: Costs incurred due to unforeseen events such as landslides, roadblocks, or natural calamities are not included.
  • Transportation: Airfare, train tickets, and bus tickets to and from Guwahati are not part of the tour package and must be arranged separately by the traveller.

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT GUWAHATI, SHILLONG EXPLORATION, CAFE HOPPING & RELAX! 

  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport by 02:00 pm. Meet your fellow travelers and begin a scenic drive through the mountains to Shillong, known as the “Scotland of the East.”
  • Spend the day at your own pace explore local cafés, stroll through the vibrant Police Bazaar for souvenirs and street food, or visit Laitlum Canyons for panoramic views. Alternatively, unwind at Ward’s Lake or relax with a book and hot chocolate.
  • As evening sets in, enjoy Shillong’s cool mountain air and lively nightlife, from live music at cafés to group dinners with your travel tribe.

DAY 2: NONGJRONG, PUNGLYER, GARDEN OF CAVES & NOHKALIKAI

  • Check out at 2:00 am for an early adventure to Nongjrong, one of Meghalaya’s hidden gems. (we know its so early but we promise its worth it!!) 
  • A short 15-minute walk leads to a surreal sight  an endless sea of clouds and a stunning golden sunrise.
  • Next, head to Pung Lyer for a scenic 45-minute trek to emerald-blue waters and a natural infinity pool above the waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing dip or relax by the banks, surrounded by nature’s quiet charm.
  • Stop for a hearty local lunch before exploring the Garden of Caves, a lesser-known wonder filled with unique rock formations and cascading streams.
  • Wrap up the day at Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India and the fourth tallest in the world. Enjoy fresh local fruits from nearby vendors and soak in the breathtaking views.
  • By evening, reach Cherrapunjee, check in at your stay, and unwind over dinner.

DAY 3: ROOT BRIDGES, RAINBOW FALLS & SECRET BLUE LAGOON

  • Today’s adventure takes you to the iconic Double Decker Living Root Bridges, one of Meghalaya’s most remarkable sights. The trek is approximately two hours each way and can be challenging, but the reward is well worth it.
  • Take a dip in the natural freshwater pools, enjoy a natural fish pedicure, and capture memorable photos on the bridge surrounded by lush forest.
  • For those with extra energy, continue another 1.5 hours to the stunning Rainbow Falls, known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant hues. On the way, you’ll also visit the Secret Blue Lagoon, a serene spot perfect for a quick break and a refreshing swim.
  • Return before sunset and end the day with a well-deserved dinner.

DAY 4: MAWSMAI CAVES, ASIA'S CLEANEST VILLAGE & RIVERSIDE CAMPING

  • Bid farewell to Cherrapunjee and start the day with a thrilling walk through the Mawsmai Caves, navigating narrow passages and unique limestone formations.
  • Next, stop at Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. Stroll through the beautifully maintained lanes and climb a traditional tree house for panoramic views of the Bangladesh plains.
  • Later, drive to Dawki and settle into your riverside campsite. Enjoy the sound of rushing water, cool mountain air, and a bonfire under the stars — the perfect setting to relax and bond with your travel group.

DAY 5: CLIFF JUMPS & PHE PHE FALLS

  • Start the day with adrenaline-filled activities at Shnongpdeng, Dawki. Spend the morning kayaking, snorkeling, or cliff jumping into crystal-clear waters.
  • After lunch, head to Phe Phe Falls, one of Meghalaya’s most spectacular waterfalls, standing tall at 200 ft. If time permits, stop by another nearby waterfall for one last scenic break.
  • By evening, transfer to Jowai for a comfortable overnight stay.

DAY 6: 5TH LARGEST CAVE OF ASIA & THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL OF THIS TRIP!!

  • Start the day early and set out for one of Meghalaya’s best-kept secrets — the Krem Chympe Cave, the fifth longest cave in Asia. After breakfast, drive through remote terrain to the trailhead and begin a scenic jungle trek through towering bamboo forests.
  • Reach the mouth of the cave and capture some of the most iconic photographs of the trip. Then, continue trekking to the breathtaking Khaddum Waterfall, widely regarded as the most beautiful waterfall in Meghalaya.
  • After exploring, enjoy a hearty local lunch before heading back to Shillong for your final night. Celebrate the journey with your group over dinner — a night to reflect, share stories, and enjoy the spirit of the trip one last time.

DAY 7: GOODBYE RANGERS!

  • Enjoy your final breakfast in Meghalaya and bid farewell to new friends and unforgettable experiences.
  • After check-out, we’ll drive back to Guwahati Airport, with an expected drop-off around 3:00 pm.

  • Luggage: Avoid carrying big suitcases or heavy luggage. A good-quality backpack is strongly recommended for ease and comfort.
  • Trip Style: This is a backpacking trip, not a luxury holiday. Accommodation and travel are arranged on a comfortable, decent basis to let you truly experience the local culture and spirit of backpacking.
  • Meals: For meals not included in the package, we will suggest popular and well-reviewed local cafés and restaurants across Meghalaya. Approximate budget: ₹200 per meal.
  • Check-in/Check-out: Early check-in or late check-out is strictly subject to availability at each property.
  • Accommodation: Stay will be on double or triple sharing basis with clean, attached washrooms at centrally located hotels and camps. At Dawki campsite, washrooms will be shared.
  • Unforeseen Circumstances: Any additional cost arising from events beyond our control (e.g., strikes, bandhs, riots, flight/train cancellations, mechanical breakdowns, or natural calamities like heavy rains, landslides, or earthquakes) will be borne directly by the guest.
  • Flights: Airfare to and from Guwahati is not included.
  • Arrival: Reach Guwahati by 01:00 PM on Day 1.
  • Departure: Book return flights for after 4:00 PM on the last day.
  • Extras: Costs for appliances such as heaters, TVs, or ovens (if used) are not included in the package.
  • Weather & Clothing:
  • Evenings in Cherrapunjee, Shillong, and Jowai can get quite cold (sometimes single-digit temperatures). Carry thermals if you are sensitive to cold. Cozy blankets are provided at all stays.
  • Daytime weather is pleasant. T-shirts and shorts are usually sufficient, but keep a jacket handy.
  • Carry dry-fit clothes or swimsuits, as the trip involves many waterfalls and water activities.
  • Day Pack: Bring a small 10L daypack (e.g., Decathlon) to carry essentials during hikes.
  • Facilities on Treks: Changing rooms and clean washrooms are available throughout Meghalaya, even on treks, usually for a nominal fee of ₹10.
  • Sustainability: Carry a refillable water bottle, dry fruits, and snacks to reduce plastic waste during the trip.
  • Travel Time: Daily travel involves a maximum of 4–5 hours (often less). Road conditions are generally excellent throughout Meghalaya.

Booking Terms & Conditions – Meghalaya Offbeat Trip

Booking Confirmation:

  • To secure your slot, a non-refundable deposit of ₹5000 must be paid at the time of booking.

Final Payment:

  • The remaining balance must be paid at least 7 days before the trip start date. Failure to complete the payment by the deadline may result in the cancellation of your reservation.

General Booking Policy:

  • All bookings made with SAHYADRI RANGERS TREKS AND TOURS (hereafter referred to as the company) are subject to these terms and conditions. The person signing the booking form accepts these conditions and will be referred to as the client.

Liability:

  • The company is not responsible for delays, cancellations, or changes arising due to weather conditions, flight or train disruptions, political unrest, strikes, or any force majeure events. The company reserves the right to modify itineraries or use alternative transport in case of illness, breakdowns, or other unforeseen circumstances. Any additional expenses such as extra accommodation or transport will be borne by the client.

Assumption of Risk:

  • Clients acknowledge the inherent risks associated with adventure and cultural travel. Participation is voluntary and at the traveller’s own risk. The company is not liable for death, illness, injury, or loss of property during the trip.

Travel Insurance:

  • All participants are required to have valid travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, baggage loss, trip cancellation, and other unforeseen expenses.

Trip Leader Authority:

  • Participants agree to follow the instructions and decisions of the trip leader appointed by the company. Any disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the trip without refund, with additional costs to be covered by the client.

Responsibility:

  • The organisers and affiliates are not liable for accidents, natural calamities, or events beyond their control.
